The Electrical & Electronics Department has well qualified and dedicated faculty, which includes talents from industries also, involved full time in training students in various subjects using state-of-the-art teaching methodologies. The curriculum covers almost all core Electrical engineering subjects. In addition to this there are various Electronics and Computer related subjects also.

The Department is heading to progress with better results, additions to infrastructure, induction of qualified faculty etc.

LABORATORY FACILITIES

LABORATORY NAME	NO. OF SYSTEM	LAB FACILITIES
ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB	20	Basic experiments in Electrical Machine Theory are conducted in this lab. The laboratory has transformers, induction machines, synchronous machines and direct current machines.
CONTROL SYSTEM LAB	20	A few experiments in this lab are software based, executed using MATLAB. The rest of the experiments are conducted using ready-made kits/ assembled circuits.
RELAYS & HIGH VOLTAGE LAB	20	The characteristics of all major types of relays used in power system are studied in this lab. Also experiments are conducted to determine the breakdown strengths of air and liquid insulations.
POWER SYSTEM SIMULATION LAB	20	The lab has 25 systems which are networked and having internet facility. Power system simulation experiments are conducted using MATLAB and ‘MiPower ‘ package
ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENTS LAB	20	This lab has two parts. One part is software based, done with the help of ‘PSPICE’ software package. Characteristics of transistors, Op-Amps etc. are studied in this part. The other part has experiments including a.c bridges, d.c bridges, current transformer s etc.

National Level Conferences:

A National Level conference on “Recent Trends in Electrical & Electronics Engineering" was organized by the dept of EEE at MS Engineering College on 21st October 2011. Research Scholars & Post graduate Students from various parts of the country like Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka participated in the conference & presented their research papers.
A Guest lecture was organized on “Power Convertors for Electric Drives” on 12th April 2011. The Guest speaker was Dr.Narayanan from IISc, Bangalore
A Guest lecture was organized on “Electromagnetic Compalability in Power Systems” on 10th October 2011. The Guest speaker was Dr.TC. Balachandra from BMS IT, Bangalore.
A Guest lecture was organized on “Device Modeling” on 24th February 2012. The Guest speaker was Dr. Jayadev from Nagarjuna College of Engineering, Bangalore

STAFF NEWS

Professor. Abraham George and Professor Neelakantam.G has attended a national level conference on "Potential research Avenues and Emerging technologies in the Field of Electrical Engineering” from 12th March to 16th March 2012 at Reva Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Professor. Abraham George, Professor Neelakantam.G, Mr.Harikumar, Lecturer, Ms. Seethalakshmi.B, Lecturer has attended a two day seminar on "Power Electronics Applications in Smart Grid" on 22nd & 23rd July 2011 at Sir MVIT, Bangalore.
Ms. Geethalakshmi.SN, Lecturer & Ms. Seethalakshmi.B, Lecturer has attended a three day workshop on "MSP430 Microcontrollers & Applications" on 30th January t0 1st February 2012 at HKBK College of Engineering, Bangalore.

STUDENT NEWS

Electrical department students’ forum was inaugurated on 22nd September 2011.It was named “Electrify”
Ms. Anitha of 6th Semester made a Power point presentation about the different types of Electrical Power generating stations on 24.02.12 as a part of the department forum activity.
The students of 6th & 4th Semester conducted a technical game show on 02.03.12 as a part of the department forum activity.
